Robel
Hello! My name is Robel and I'm currently a student at Pomona College studying Math and Religious Studies. I've loved math since I heard Yakko's multiplication song in "Animaniacs." When I was younger, I thought math was simply memorization. I learned quickly that math is a language — a rigorous study of patterns that helps us understand the natural world. Even if you never use certain formulas again, you build critical thinking skills that shape how you observe the world in everything you do. My call to teaching comes from my older brother, who taught me the value of being patient and adaptive. He inspired me to carry this same dedication to others. I love seeing the transformation in others in hopes of building them into the mentors of the next generation. Outside of academics, I love to run, play basketball, and talk with friends. I love eating all kinds of foods (except avocados...) and playing random melodies with my flute!

Miranda
Hola! My name is Miranda and I am currently a student at the University of California, Berkeley. I am majoring in Public Health and aspire to be a Physician's Assistant. I am proudly the first generation of my family to attend college. Spanish is my first language; my parents have always spoken to me in Spanish (and still do!). They have always emphasized the importance of preserving my native tongue, culture, and heritage. Due to this, I have been able to connect to my family and community on a deeper level, learning to love and appreciate my people and culture. I want others to be able to learn more and appreciate the beautiful language I grew up speaking. During the pandemic, I recall my aunt tutoring me in the finer points of reading and writing in Spanish and am now excited and privileged that I get to pay it back and do so for others. From a young age, my peers have always leaned on me and asked me for help. I like to approach my students with a calm and understanding lens, emphasizing learning instead of rushing through topics. I really want my students to enjoy what they are learning! In my free time, I like to go on late night drives, cafe-hop, color, and spend time with my family and friends. Oh! And I love matcha and need to have my daily fix.

Lucien
Hello, my name is Lucien! I am currently enrolled at the University of California Berkeley majoring in Molecular and Cell Biology with an emphasis on immunology. While in high school, I was amongst a small group of students who helped pilot a peer math tutoring program. The program is still going strong many years later! Over the past few years, my passion for aiding others has led me to tutor a diverse range of math levels spanning from elementary school math to Pre-Calculus and Statistics. My teaching philosophy centers on employing open-ended questions to foster critical thinking and empower confident expression. Getting something "correct" is not the end goal for me; in fact, I view making errors as one of the best ways to learn. I aim to create a supportive learning environment where students can build confidence and cultivate a lasting passion for the subject. Originally from Portland, Oregon, my hobbies include playing tennis, taekwondo, and photography. During high school, I was part of the tennis team all four years and even the captain of the fencing team! Besides sports, I love to read a nice, long book, but also to explore all that nature has to offer through landscape photography.

I've been tutoring since 2020, when I served as the President of SiNET Tutoring, a student-led initiative connecting high schoolers and younger students around Irvine Unified School District, focused on increasing access to academic support. Since then, I've continued to work with students privately, helping learners build confidence and clarity across a range of subjects. My goal has always been to not just serve as a teacher but as a mentor. Being tutored is a hurdle and I am there to be their support and helping hand to help them grow academically and emotionally.

Hi, I'm Abigail! I am an undergraduate student at UC Berkeley working towards my B.S. in Educational Sciences. I transferred to Cal from community college, where I earned my A.S. in Mathematics. I want to either become a math professor or curriculum developer. I was a math and statistics tutor during my time in community college, and this experience allowed me to work with many students of various ages and backgrounds. I've also volunteered at elementary schools, helping students gain confidence in their mathematical literacy. Overall, I'm extremely passionate about making learning an enjoyable experience for all! In my free time, I enjoy reading, baking new dessert recipes, going on runs, and film photography! As a tutor, I am committed to being patient, positive, empathetic, and efficient.

Greetings! I'm Maia, currently enrolled at the University of California, Berkeley, where I'm pursuing a major in Molecular Cellular Biology on the Pre-Medical track. My ambition is to become a pediatric orthopedic surgeon. Over the past four years, my passion for aiding others has led me to tutor a diverse range of math levels, spanning from elementary school math to Algebra 2/Trig. Creating a comfortable learning atmosphere is central to my approach, and I prioritize serving my students with patience, kindness, and a warm smile. I actively encourage questions and foster curiosity. Moreover, I specialize in breaking down complex concepts into manageable steps that are easily remembered, and I collaborate with students to devise tailored study plans to achieve their objectives. My overarching goal is to nurture self-assurance among my students, ensuring they recognize their inherent capacity for success. During my leisure hours, I indulge in various sports such as basketball, golf, and tennis. Music, modeling, and savoring delectable cuisine also rank high among my interests. Additionally, I'm engaged in the world of pageantry and recently participated in Miss Teen Inc.

Hi! I'm Nirel! I'm a student at UC San Diego studying Bioengineering and specializing in Bioinformatics. I'm currently doing data analysis research in a clinical lab, and my goal is to continue using bioinformatics to bridge the gap between data and medicine. I've been tutoring since 2020, working with elementary to high school students in a variety of subjects. Beyond math, I've also taught students how to play piano, and I genuinely love helping people grow confidence in new skills! My approach is all about building a strong enough foundation that students can think through problems on their own, not just follow steps. When I'm not studying, you can find me starting a new book, thrifting, rating matcha and boba spots, or catching a sunset at the beach.

Hi! I'm Anya, a Computational Biology student at UCLA interested in how data and business can be used to improve health outcomes. I've been teaching and tutoring students in a variety of settings for the past four years, working with different ages and learning styles. I really enjoy getting to know my students and what works best for them. For me, tutoring isn't just about getting through the material, but rather about making sure students feel comfortable asking questions, working through challenges, and building confidence over time. I try to create a space that feels supportive and low-pressure, where it's okay to make mistakes and learning can actually be enjoyable. Outside of school, I love being outdoors — hiking, beach days, and catching sunsets — as well as working out, trying new coffee shops, and going to concerts!
