*NEW* this year: AP Chemistry
This course is designed to teach the fundamentals of Chemistry through a structured, reasoning-based approach, not only to prepare students for a smooth transition into AP Chemistry, but also to help them truly understand the “why” behind how complex chemical concepts are developed. AP Chemistry is a fast-paced, intensive course with dense material, making a summer overview an ideal way to set your child up for success while also helping minimize stress and workload during the school year!
In this course, students will learn the foundations of atomic structure, periodic trends, molecular and ionic structures, intermolecular forces, chemical reactions, and kinetics. AP Chemistry serves as a cornerstone for many future science courses, making it especially important that your child builds a strong and confident understanding early on.
This course is an excellent investment for high-achieving students who want to get ahead and start the school year with confidence. Due to its fast-paced nature, students should have earned at least a B in prior chemistry coursework (such as Chemistry or Chemistry Honors). However, because the course begins with core fundamentals, any student willing to put in the effort will leave well-prepared to succeed in AP Chemistry and beyond. Students should expect approximately 30–60 minutes of homework after each class. Taught by Upbeat Usayd!
Integrated 2 Preview (also good for Algebra 1 Review)
Integrated Math often requires students to apply multiple concepts—spanning Algebra, Geometry, and Statistics—within a single problem, often with limited examples or direct instruction. This course removes the guesswork by teaching core concepts in a clear, structured, and replicable way.
While not comprehensive, this summer preview builds a strong Algebraic foundation for incoming Integrated Math 2 students and reinforces key Algebra 1 skills for those entering Geometry. Topics include solving quadratics (5 methods), Special Right Triangles, basic trigonometry, angle relationships, and proof formatting.
This fast-paced course is best suited for students who earned at least a B in Int 1 (not a remediation class). However, because the course begins with core fundamentals, any student willing to put in the effort is welcome to attend. Expect 30–60 minutes of homework per session. Now in its eighth year, students consistently see strong results. Taught by the Amazing Adi!
Integrated 3 Advanced/Precalculus Preview
This class is designed for incoming Integrated 3 Advanced OR incoming Precalculus students. Every year like clockwork, I get inundated with new client requests when Int 3A students begin the Trigonometry Section in the Pre-Calculus textbook in January. I understand why…it’s HARD! Let’s jump ahead and prevent the frustration! I’ve designed a course using the scope and sequence and the actual problems students will be encountering in the beginning of the second semester (if you attend Castro Valley High); the problems are also similar to any Pre-calculus class in any district. An ounce of prevention goes a loooong way to ensuring success. You’ll also have access to worked out solutions for most of the material in the second semester.
This is a fast-paced course, so your child should have earned a minimum of a B in Integrated 2 or Algebra 2. However, any student willing to put in the effort is welcome to attend. Now in its seventh year, students consistently achieve strong results. Expect 30–60 minutes of homework per session. Taught by Helpful Hope!
AB Calculus Preview
This course introduces core Calculus concepts in a clear, structured, and replicable way, providing a strong bridge into AP Calculus AB. Students learn the notation and methods for limits, derivatives, and integrals, building early familiarity with the key concepts that drive success in Calculus. Ideal for high-achieving students looking to get ahead before the school year, this course helps reduce workload and improve confidence across all classes. Now in its sixth year, students consistently perform strongly in Calculus AB.
This fast-paced course is best suited for students who earned at least a B in both semesters of Integrated 3, Precalculus, or equivalent (not a remediation class). However, any student willing to put in the effort is welcome to attend. Expect 30–60 minutes of homework per session. Taught by the Phenomenal Pho! of 3 students
